Class 4

On Friday we went to the Common and we played games. First we played Stuck in the Mud which was lots of fun. We also played Red Rover which was a bit like Crocodile Crocodile Can We Cross The River. We brought £2 with us to buy an ice cream. They were very yummy, we loved them. We had more fun doing cartwheels and things like that. Then we went to Pizza Express. We all got to choose from just plain Margherita pizza, or one with ham, pepperoni or mushroom. If you did not like pizza you could have something else like pasta. It was a lovely sunny day and we all really enjoyed out first tutor outing of the Upper School. Thank you Mrs McDonald, Miss Sherman and Miss Turtle for a really happy day.

Mr Bennett and Miss Fowler's Tutor Group

For Miss Fowler’s tutor trip we went to Rococo chocolates and had loads of fun designing wrappers, making chocolate and even buying some of their chocolates! We went with Mr Bennett’s group so we designed our wrappers first and saved the making and tasting the chocolate until last. My favourite part was tasting the chocolate and then taking home our own! I also really enjoyed lunch in Hyde Park which was delicious. Thanks for such a great outing Miss Fowler!

This year, Miss Fowler’s tutor group went to the Rococo Chocolate shop. We had so much fun buying and trying lots of delicious chocolate. We even saw the staff making dark chocolate and we designed our own wrapper and then came home with our own chocolate bar. After we went to Hyde Park for a lovely picnic lunch and played lots of games. We had so much fun on our tutor outing!

It was a Friday; another day at school.  But today wasn't any normal day, it was our tutor outing!  To begin the day we all piled into our homeroom classes.  Soon we made our way to our tutor's classroom.  Our tutor is Mr.  Bennett.  We also were going on our outing with Mrs. Fowler.  We were going somewhere very special that Friday, somewhere not many people get to go.  We were going to Rococo!  Rococo is a chocolate making company, so we where in for a big treat!   Once all ready, we made a line just outside the school and began our walk towards the tube.   On the tube in was stuffy and everyone was boiling!  In total we took three tubes.  After a short while we reached our destination.  We walked a ways once in central London, and then right in front of us was Rococo chocolates!  We ate part of the lunch we had packed for a snack.  Next we walked through the doors of Rococo and there was tons of chocolate everywhere!  From then on I knew that this trip would be the tastiest trip ever!  The people working at Rococo greeted us and showed us a slide show of how chocolate is made on their computer.  We got divided into our two original groups.  One group went downstairs with the cook to learn about making the chocolate and to make their own chocolate bars! The other group would stay upstairs and make a rapper for their chocolate bar. We then split up, my group downstairs first!  We where led, by the cook, into a small kitchen like place.  There was a big mixer, mixing, you guessed it, chocolate!  It looked so yummy, I wanted to eat it all!  The cook took some chocolate from a bowl from the shelf and poured it onto the granite table.  I was so surprised to see that the cook just poured all the chocolate on the table!  He took out some chocolate animal faces that he had made before hand.  They were so good!  He helped us make our own animal faces by getting some chocolate and putting it into a plastic bag and tying it up at the end and then cutting a tiny hole at the tip of the bag.  The chocolate would squeeze out the tiny hole we cut and into the casks of the animal faces!  We all got turns at it.  It was very hard to get not to little or not to much chocolate into the tiny casks.  It was challenging, but fun.  As everyone finished that up others took turns filling up casks, in the shape of chocolate bars, from a chocolate fountain.  After this was all finished we swapped places with the other group who had been designing candy rappers.  To design the candy rappers you had to do a first draft on some paper.  To make the paper the shape of the chocolate you had to put the chocolate inside of the paper and bend and fold the paper just like the chocolate bar.  As a result you would get the paper the same shape as the chocolate bar!  After that you could design a rapper any way you like using colored pencil and marker!  Some people did designs such as cocoa pods, flowers that grew on the cocoa trees, or even writing their own brand names on the rapper!  Once the first draft was completed you had to get some different kind of waxy material paper.  You redid your design on the paper, or you could start a whole different design.  After all of that was finished, and all the people in the room below were done we where given some delicious hot chocolate!  It was with real chocolate and it was amazing!  Later, when it was time to leave we were aloud to by up to 6 pounds worth of chocolate and candy!  We all said "Bye" and "Thank you" to the Rococo Chocolates people.  We had found out loads about chocolate, more than that it is just delicious!  Once we were out the door of Rococo we headed to Hyde park for a delicious packed lunch.  We also played games in the grass.  Finally it came to an end.  We walked back down to the tube and rode home, thinking of our great time at Rococo.  We all walked from the tube back to Broomwood, and that's where our adventurous outing stopped.  That night we all dreamed of our fun time at Rococo Chocolates!

Mrs Brooks and Miss Joll's Tutor Groups

Last Friday our tutor groups had a fabulous outing to the zoo. First we went to the tube station and began our journey to the London Zoo.  When we finally got there we went to the scorching African plains where saw the adorable meercats and the fierce African Hunting Dogs and the cute, fat, furry pigs. Then we went to the butterfly exhibit and saw lots of butterflies and interesting creatures. We also went to the very realistic rainforest exhibit to visit the furry little monkeys and the scary, scaly creatures that live the darkness. Then we had a really nice lunch while we looked at the flamingos and pelicans, after which we went to see the hippos, gorillas and monkeys. Then we went to see some fish in the aquarium and saw lots of different types of fish of all different size and colours. It was almost time to go home! But, first we went to the gift shop, of course, and got some ice cream and little toys. Now it was time to go back to school, end of a long and exciting day!

Mr Gibb's Tutor Group

Mr Gibb’s group visited the Trocadero in Leicester Square. I enjoyed the dodgems the most because I kept on crashing into Jessica. Everyone bought lots of things at Clare’s Accessories. I thought the bowling was great fun for everybody and the sweets were delicious. I loved every bit of it and I hope everyone else did to. I would love to do air hockey again with my friends. We went through a place called China Town. It was incredibly decorated with lanterns. I thought the food was great.

Mrs Houston's Tutor Group

On Friday 19th September Mrs Houston’s tutor group went on a London duck tour. As Mrs Houston was away, Mrs Parsons took us. We all gathered in Mrs Houston’s classroom. We set off and walked to Clampham South tube station. There, we took the tube to Embankment we walked straight to the London duck bus stop. We met our guide and got on the duck. After a ride around London seeing sights such as the Buckingham Palace, Westminster and Big Ben. Then we traveled to a little yellow box right by the MI6 building. We had been informed earlier of a big surprise still to come. We whooshed down a ramp into the water. On the water we moved slowly up river. After a WONDERFUL time on the duck tour we relaxed under the London eye and ate our lunch. We wondered along the south bank looking in shops and eating crepes. Then we rushed to Waterloo and got the tube back to school. Altogether it was a great experience and we would love to do it again in the future.

Mrs. McOrist's Tutees had a lovely day visiting the London Aquarium. We learnt all about sting rays whilst watching them being fed and marvelled at the size of the sharks. We were a little disappointed that the Touch tank no longer exists, but we managed to put our energies into retail therapy instead at the elaborate gift store!

A picnic lunch in the sunshine along the Southbank ended a splendid day!
