To the
Lower
School
Children enter the
Lower
School (The Vicarage or 3 Garrad's Road) in the September following their fourth birthday. The entry procedure includes a personal showaround and interview with the Head, appointments for which commence in the Autumn (Michaelmas) term the year before a child is due to start. This is followed, at a later date, by a readiness assessment of the child.
We take equal numbers of boys and girls; siblings of children already within the school have priority. We do not select on the basis of academic potential, and accept children with a range of abilities. The assessment is designed solely to ensure that a child is truly ready for school.
Children may be placed on the Provisional List Form (for which there is no charge) up to three and a half years before they are due to start. The Provisional List Form can either be obtained by downloading from here
, or from the Registrar, Mrs Goddard, on 0208 682 8830.
Parents who have their names on the provisional list will be invited to a presentation at Broomwood Hall in the October, two years prior to date of entry. Following the presentation, if parents think that Broomwood Hall would be the right school for their child, they are invited to put their child's name down on a Registration List for which a fee of £100 is payable. Once parents have formally registered, they are invited to attend a personal showaround of their preferred Lower School (The Vicarage or 3 Garrad's Road) and have an interview with the Head. Places are offered once all the children have been assessed.
To the
Upper
School
The majority of girls entering the
Upper
School do so from the
Lower
School, for which no test is required. However, girls joining the school from outside will need to complete a Provisional List Form (available by downloading from here
, or by calling the Registrar, Mrs Goddard, on 0208 682 8830) and return it to the school. Entrance is by way of a personal interview with the Head of the
Upper
School and a short test, designed to ensure that girls are of a sufficient academic standard to cope with the demands that will be made of them.
