A two course lunch is provided at school every day, prepared on the premises by our own catering staff. The menus are varied and interesting, with an emphasis on good nutrition. Milk and fruit or biscuits are provided mid-morning. Tea (sandwiches, biscuits or cake, drink) is also provided for those staying on for after-school clubs. We expect children to try everything - we do not provide a choice other than for a valid medical reason, nor are children allowed to opt out. Teachers sit with the children at lunch and keen a watchful eye on table manners.

Pastoral Care and House System

At Broomwood Hall, all children are well known to all staff. We pride ourselves on our nurturing and caring environment where 'the whole child' is developed. We believe that reward and praise will bring out the best in every child and we provide many different arenas in which a child can shine. We have dress-up days, hat parades, poetry competitions, musical competitions, positions of responsibility and regular themed days or weeks, such as art week.

From Class 2, children are allocated membership of one of four houses. Each house has its own House Captain and lunch monitor, appointed termly from Class 3. Houses compete with one another in various ways. Children quickly come to identify with their houses, often very strongly; the house system is invaluable in encouraging a sense of team spirit and 'belonging'. House Points are awarded to individual children for manners, tidiness and effort.
