PREP TEACHING ASSISTANT – NVQ 3

 

For September 2012, we seek a Prep Class teaching assistant with an NVQ 3 qualification to join our successful Lower School at Garrad’s Road, London SW16. The teaching assistant is directly responsible to the Prep teacher of the class to which he or she is assigned.

 

Job purpose

 

To assist the class teacher, both in the teaching of all subjects and in all manner of duties around the classroom and the Lower School in general.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

1.      Assisting mainly in the classroom with curriculum subjects.

2.      Garden duties supervising playtime

3.      Share covering lessons for absent staff

4.      Assisting with excursions

5.      Some administration jobs for staff

6.      Helping children if they have had an accident or are unwell

7.      Supervising the Early waiters group before school each morning

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential
·      NVQ 3 qualification
·      Experience as a teaching assistant
·      Commitment to an education that recognises the importance of music, art, sport   and drama as well as the traditional academic subjects
·      Good interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable

·      Previous experience of working in an independent preparatory school

 

Salary & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary dependent on experience. The school has its own pay scale which is above the national rates. The contractual hours of work are Monday to Friday 7.30 am to 3.30 pm term time only, although staff may be expected to work occasional extra days and evenings. |
