Sports & PE

At Broomwood Hall Upper School, we see sport as a major part of a girl’s education. With our own hard court and within walking distance of Wandsworth Common and Trinity Fields (a 7 acre playing field) - girls have wonderful facilities with which to find a sport they love.  We also bus the girls to various sports centres in the area to enable them to play hockey or netball inside on full size courts.

Girls are offered a wide range of options from netball, hockey and rounders to athletics, gymnastics, fitness, tennis and swimming. We believe that whatever your daughter’s sporting ability, she should be given the opportunity to play in matches and enjoy the thrill of representing her school; we therefore have fixtures for A-D teams on a regular basis. There are also fiercely fought inter-house competitions and regular swimming galas.

Girls take sport lessons four times a week and have Friday options where they can experience the more unusual sports such as badminton, basketball, cricket, lacrosse handball or football if they would like extra sports time. Extra-curricular clubs are also available, and can include karate, table tennis, touch rugby, dance and running.

Each year we run a tour abroad. In recent years, the netball squad has travelled to Jersey and Malta and new locations are being considered all the time.

We are a competitive school and keen to support the more able, winning over 80% of our matches and preparing girls for scholarships. In recent years girls have gained sports scholarships to Godolphin, Streatham & Clapham High and Alleyn's.
